How to Kick Anxiety's Butt Before it Kicks Yours

It can be scary as hell, but it doesn’t have to take over your life — here are three simple steps to help you beat anxiety and keep it from getting the best of you in the future.


Get Up

Getting up and out of bed is often the hardest part of the day when you're struggling with anxiety. But it's important to push yourself to do things even when you don't feel like it. This will help your stress levels and make you feel more in control of your anxiety.


Exercise

According to the Mayo Clinic, regular exercise is one of the best things you can do to manage stress. It also can help reduce anxiety and improve your mood. If you're a teenager dealing with stress, make exercise a part of your daily routine. Even just 30 minutes of moderate activity, such as walking or biking, can help relieve stress.


Meditate

Meditation has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress and anxiety. If you're a teenager, there's no shame in admitting that you're feeling overwhelmed. Talk to your parents or a trusted adult about your anxiety and see if they can help you find a therapist or counselor who can help you manage your stress. In the meantime, try out some meditation and deep breathing exercises to see if they help you feel calmer.


Breathe

Anxiety can be debilitating, but there are things you can do to help ease your stress. One of the most important things you can do is to breathe. deep, slow breaths. In through your nose and out through your mouth. This will help slow down your heart rate and bring some much-needed oxygen to your brain.


Change your Thinking

One of the best ways to deal with anxiety is to change the way you think about it. Stress is a normal part of life, and everybody experiences it from time to time. Defy your Routine

Getting out of your comfort zone is one of the best things you can do for your anxiety. It allows you to see that the world doesn't end at your doorstep and that there are other people in the world who feel just as stressed as you do. It also helps you to build confidence and learn how to cope with new situations.
